Montenegro grants temporary residence (boravišna dozvola) to foreign citizens who own residential property in the country. The permit is issued for one year and renewed as long as you own the property.
The required documents are straightforward: proof of ownership (list nepokretnosti), a valid passport, health insurance, proof of funds and a clean criminal record from your home country.
The application is submitted in the municipality where the property is located. Processing usually takes a few weeks, and family members can apply on the basis of family reunification.
Residence based on ownership does not require you to spend a minimum number of days in Montenegro, and after five years of continuous temporary residence you may qualify for permanent residence.
Our team handles the entire procedure - from the purchase itself to the residence permit - in five languages.
